Pharmacology : Roots of the plant show antitumor & radio sensitizing effects. Total alkaloids fraction of the root extract exhibits hypotensive bradycardic and respiratory stimulant activities  It shows relaxant and antispasmodic effects against several plasmagens on intestinal, uterine, bronchial, tracheal and blood vascular muscles. Withaonlides posses remarkable antibacterial, antitumour, anti arthritic and immuno suppressive properties.  The root is a tonic, alternative astringent, nervine, sedative and rejuvenative.  It balances the nervous system and helpful to relieve fatigue, nervous exertion, loss of memory, loss of muscular energy, impotence, infertility, multiple sclerosis and general debility.

Therapeutic uses : Withania is used in general debility, ageing, stress induced disorders, Rheumatic disorders, anxiety neurosis, wounds & ulcers.
