CISSUS QUADRANGULARIS

Family: Vitaceae

Plant Parts used : Stems (dried).

Chemical constituents : The major active constituent is 3-Ketosteroid and Vitamin C.

Pharmacology : The effect of total extract on healing of cortisone treated fractures has been compared with that of the anabolic hormone durabolin. On parental administration the total extraction was found to neutralise the antianabolic effect of cortisone in healing of fractures.

Therapeutic uses : Healing of bone fractures and General weakness.

Standardisation:: Cissus quadrangularis dry extract is standardized to 5% 3-ketosteroids.
